Canada has a rich history of grassroots activism. Getting the Word Out<\/b><\/i> looks at how organizers and activists communicated information and ideas before the Internet. Since \u2018before the Internet\u2019 comprises most of our history, this offers a significant perspective on our story as a country, and on Canada\u2019s place in the world.<\/p>\n
Discover the stories of those who were working actively to make the world better, in ways large and small.<\/p>\n
One of the central themes of this exhibit is how the idea of community<\/i> informed activists and organizers. The idea of community might, and often did, represent a particular locality, a place. But it might equally represent other kinds of communities, defined by a sense of identity, or a common set of beliefs or shared problems, which might include people spread over a wide geographical area where people were facing, and fighting, injustice.<\/p>\n
The Getting the Word Out<\/b><\/i> exhibit showcases movements, projects, media and products, and technologies and methods.
